Stephanie Zaletel
Gentle Dances / Contemporary
Biography:
Originally from Las Vegas, NV Stephanie Zaletel is a choreographer, dancer, mentor, wife, and educator currently working from Los Angeles, CA. Her choreography has been commissioned for various music videos, short films, colleges, institutions, and collaborations. Zaletel began her career dancing for Danielle Agami (Artistic Director, Ate9) in LA before committing to the creation of her own work by forming Stephanie Zaletel | szalt in 2015.Through this platform Zaletel has performed, led workshops, and held residencies at numerous notable venues and festivals across the U.S. including The Hammer Museum, LAX Festival, REDCAT, Arizona State University, Cornish College of the Arts, Tempe Center for the Arts, Loyola Marymount University, Ford Theatres, University of Central Missouri, California Institute of the Arts, Peabody Conservatory, and The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.
As an independent artist, Zaletel choreographed for Lars Jan’s “The White Album” by Joan Didion which toured for 2 years and premiered at Wexner Center for the Arts, BAM’s Next Wave Festival, Sydney Festival, and the Freud Playhouse in partnership with CAP UCLA and Centre Theater Group after additional technical and creative residencies at UCross and CalArts.
Zaletel is currently performing for Rosanna Gamson // World Wide in a new creation and collaborating on an opera with Jodie Landau and Beth Morrison Projects for a world premier at National Sawdust in New York in 2021. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography with a minor in Humanities from California Institute of the Arts.
Class Description:
All levels of mover are welcome Gentle Dances is a time to listen carefully to our bodies and reconnect to patience and surrender through repetition, improvisation, and breath. The last 20 minutes of class is dedicated to learning and deconstructing phrase material in our individual adaptive spaces.
